Atorvastatin 

Atorvastatin is used with a proper diet (low cholesterol and fat intake) to reduce the amount of cholesterol in your blood. Accumulation of cholesterol and fats along the walls of your arteries (atherosclerosis) decreases blood flow and, therefore, the oxygen supply to your heart, brain, and other parts of your body. Lowering your blood level of cholesterol and fats may help to prevent heart disease, strokes, and heart attacks.

A physician must decide whether to instruct a pregnant woman to continue taking Atorvastatin and nursing if the benefits of treatment are judged to outweigh the potential risks, or to discontinue either nursing or Atorvastatin if the potential risks are judged to outweigh the benefits.
